Pan Am Paintings donated to the Museum - January 2009: The museum was extremely pleased to receive a generous donation of five beautiful and dramatic paintings from a California couple. Charles Delfina and Patricia Silver have always been interested in aviation, and were looking the large and colourful works which had been commissioned to their specifications. Museum receives prestigious award - March 2008: The Foynes Flying Boat Museum was selected to receive the 2007 Federation Aeronautique Internationale Group Award. The Certificate was presented by the National Aero Club of Ireland on 6th March 2008 during a ceremony at Weston Executive Airport. The award ceremony preceded a presentation by Squadron Leader Rick Phillips, an ex Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and Gulf War pilot who flew the last ever Buccaneer off HMS Ark Royal. Documentary Film Underway - August 2007: Work continues on the documentary film being done on the building or our replica Boeing B314. This month our Manager, Margaret O'Shaughnessy, travels to Atlanta along with Jim Sherwin of Sherwin Media to do interviews for the project. We are grateful for the continuing assistance of Delta Air Lines in support of this project.

2007 International Flying Boat Festival - July 2007: Despite the technical problems which grounded "Vintage Lady", the festival, the 70th Anniversary to the day of the first passenger trial flights by Pan American Airways and BOAC, was a great success! Loving couple receives Foynes farewell - May 2007: A couple who met and fell in love in Foynes more than 60 years ago had their final wishes fulfilled in May, when their ashes are scattered there, following a prayer service on board the world's only life-size replica flying-boat. William Newell, 90, who was a native of Wilmington in the US state of Delaware, died on January 7 this year less than three months after his 82 year-old Dublin-born-wife, Nancy, passed away. Grant to Finance new Documentary Film - December 2006: Minister John O'Donoghue T.D. Minister for Arts, Sport & Tourism announced a €25,000 grant to the Museum to finance a new Documentary film on the building of our full-scale Boeing B314 model by Bill Fallover and its installation at the Museum and official opening last summer. Jim Sherwin of Sherwin Media, creator of the 1989 documetary "The Flying Boats of Foynes" and our Manager, Margaret O'Shaughnessy, will begin work on the project in early January.
