What to Expect During Your Visit

During your visit you can explore our Aviation Museum, Maritime Museum, Maureen O’Hara Exhibition and the Irish Coffee Centre.
These exhibits tell the story of Foynes as a centre of early transatlantic aviation,
the history of the River Shannon and the origins of Irish coffee.

General entry to the museum is available during our advertised opening hours.
Guided group tours are available by advance booking for groups of 10 or more,
with tours lasting approximately 1.5 hours.

The museum is generally open Tuesday to Sunday, 9:30am to 4:30pm, with last admission at 3:30pm.

Getting Here

The museum is located in the village of Foynes on the N69, approximately 30 minutes from Limerick City.

  • By bus: Bus Éireann route 314 serves Foynes from Limerick. More details at Plan Your Visit.
  • By car from Limerick: Follow the N69 to Foynes.
  • From Dublin: Via M50 → M7 → N18 → N69 to Foynes.
  • From Cork: Via South Ring Road → Jack Lynch Tunnel → N20 → N69 to Foynes.
  • From west Clare: Use the Shannon Estuary car ferry (Killimer–Tarbert) and continue by road to Foynes.
  • Cruise ship visitors: Cruise ships docking in Foynes are within walking distance of the museum.
    Shuttle buses (where tenders are used) generally drop visitors close to the museum.
